Regarding the Refresher Child Protection and Welfare Training, the National Early Years Children First Committee has communicated to us the following:
‘At present the updated Refresher module is in development and will be available late 2018. Until then, Committee advises who wish to refresh their training that:
– They should complete the Túsla online course – Introduction to Children First
– They are welcome to attend the 6-hour Always Children First course if they would prefer to attend training now
– The Refresher Training is to allow practitioners to refresh their knowledge after 3 years – we will make an allowance with this time limit to allow for the fact that there has been a break in availability of Always Children First Refresher Training.
– We are flexible about the 3 year time-limit – but anyone who attended Always Children First Training 4 years ago (or more) is required to attend the full course from May ‘

Lámh Module 1 Training will take place in the Sacred Heart Centre, Lady Lane, Waterford on Tuesday 21st August 2018 from 9.00a.m. – 4.30p.m.
This cost can be funded through AIM for childcare services who are supporting a child using Lámh (Please note that an application for funding should be made in association with the Lámh tutor) €42 – materials only Tuition:Free

Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Training
The Diversity, Equality & Inclusion training has been specifically developed to support and empower childcare services to explore, understand and develop inclusive practices for the benefit of children and families.
Under the Access & Inclusion Model for Children with Disabilities childcare services are required under their ECCE contract to participate in the training and to sign up to a National Inclusion Charter.
There are no assignments required during the training but participants will be enabled to review policies & procedures and to develop the Inclusion Charter for their own services.
The training is equivalent to 15 hours Continuing Professional Development. On completion participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
The training will be facilitated by Rosemarie Cusack & Deirdre Lindy, Development Workers, WCCC.
Training for Managers & staff members of ECCE services who have an interest in this area and who can implement a review of their diversity, equality & inclusion policy. This training is intended to supplement the training delivered through LINC and so a provider who is already participating in LINC may attend but 2 additional members of staff may also like to participate in the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Training.
How many places are available per service?
Two places per service are available with a maximum of 16 places on the training course.
